My Mom reminded me of the following story the other night and I thought it was great blog material. I hope I do it justice.
I think most would agree that my Mom is pretty hip (except for that time she wore Baby Phat). She wears fashionable clothes and jewelry. She's on the up 'n up of the dos and don'ts of fashion. She tells me like it is and I always go to her to show her my outfits. When I fly or drive home to SA, I bring new clothes that I have bought to show her even if I don't plan on wearing them during the weekend. And I have on occasion showed her new clothes or shoes through SKYPE.
So, one Saturday afternoon we were shopping in San Antonio. We stopped into this little boutique type place. They have purses, shoes, costume jewelry, etc. I head towards the shoes and she heads towards the jewelry. It was a very small place and we were the only ones in the store. She yells over at me "Hey Jen, look they have BOGO!". I walk over towards her and she is pointing at a sign that says "BOGO Jewelry". I say "okay, great." She then says "I've heard of this brand, it's cool!" I immediately fall on the floor laughing. Literally, sitting on the boutique's floor laughing my ass off. I can not talk, breathe, move, nothing. She starts laughing because I am laughing and she has no idea why! Which makes me laugh even more. With tears rolling down my cheek, I finally compose myself and explain to my dear, sweet Mother that BOGO is actually not a brand and it actually stands for BUY ONE GET ONE. As in Buy One Get One FREE Jewelry. More laughing, more tears, more laughing. We had to leave the store because we were laughing so hard. This happened a couple of years ago and I still laugh like crazy when I think about it.
