About two weeks ago my sister thought she had food poisoning. After tons of pain she went to the ER and after many tests it turns out she needed an emergency appendectomy. It was very gangrene and it was like it had ruptured. Surgery goes well but she's still in a HUGE amount of pain. She kept saying they didn't take it out. She was in as much pain after the surgery than before. So after surgery they wait for her to have a bowel movement (sorry Al for sharing your bizness) and basically she doesn't for several days. She had a bowel obstruction that basically you just have to wait. Docs said it takes some people hours, day or weeks. She was in so much pain, she was vomiting and just completely doubled over. They ended up putting a tibe down her throat to get all the "stuff" out of her belly b/c it wasn't going anywhere and just making her naseous. They did another scan and decided that she need to have surgery to correct the obstruction. She has a 5 inch scar thanks to this surgery going up and down her belly. It goes right over her belly button and she might not have one after everything heals! And of all people to have this...she's the one that can sport a bikini! Anyway, they decided at some point to put in a central line and the doctor collapsed her lung so she got a chest tube to match the tube in her stomach! Finally, things started "working" and she was able to come after a two week stay. She's still pretty sore and weak being that she basically has been in bed for over 10 days.
I went to Corpus last week to relieve her in-laws from taking care of my nephews Ethan (3) and Carter (almost 7 months). It was a good test in taking care of multiple children. Luckily, my sister is super popular and she has tons of friends that picked up Ethan for school, took him to playdates, etc. Someone dropped off meals almost every night. It was great. Night time was interesting trying to wrangle up all the kids for dinner, bath and bed!
Then on Thursday night Liam threw up and had 104 fever. This was the first time he has been sick. Poor thing looked so sad. He slept okay and I headed to SA to take him to the dr. Just a throat virus (his throat was so red which explains why he wouldn't eat or drink much) but Saturday morning he was back to his old self and we made it back home late Saturday afternoon.
Since he was feeling better I dragged him to the outlets for a quick stop for some vacation clothes. Holy cannoli..GAP was having a huge sale! I got two sun dresses for myself for $10. And two shirts for the hubs for $5! I pass three outlet malls on the way home, it's practically a sin not to stop at one...and I have stopped at all three before! ;)
Anyway, I am feeling under the weather now and asked the hubs to come home early from work. I just feel bleh. Anyway, it's almost 8 and I think I'll head to bed!
I'll try to get back on the bloggin band wagon soon. I got some cute pics of the cousins. We're also in the middle of planning our Cali vacation. Part of it will be in Sonoma area and the rest with family at their house in Tahoe. It'll be our first vacation with Liam so it'll be interesting!
