Last week, we got Liam in bed and stepped outside to eat. Plate in hand, I stopped in my tracks....and outside the porch (thank God!) was a large SNAKE!!!!!
"Uh, Mr. Fitz...we have a situation out here!" It was just laying there on the sidewalk. We're staring at it from inside the screened porch. I yell "It's a rattler" "No, it's not shut up!" replies the hubby who is DEATHLY afraid of snakes. It wasn't moving. We get a bit closer...man that thing is big.
The hubs goes inside to get Lord knows what! While he was gone the snake moved near the backdoor that leads to OUR BEDROOM!!! It was now camouflaged in the dirt. The snake was getting close to going under the sidewalk/house. He comes back with a shovel, bow rake and a trash bag. He thought he was going to go all snake charmer and guide the thing in the trash bag and let him go back in the creek. But no...he had to protect his family...so he says.
The snake was starting to move under the house and we decided (sorry guys) to kill it. He jabbed the shovel in its head. Gross!!!! He kept jabbing and the damn thing wouldn't die! The skin is tough. Finally, he scooped it up on the sidewalk where we could get a better look and I ran to get the big clippers and he cut off his head.

The tongue was still all wiggly and the body was moving without a head!

We laughed later about what if we had Liam lay next to the snake for measuring purposes...that would have been funny!

Oh, that is CREEPY!
Yall are so funny. I love it!!!!! Love the plan to throw him in the river.
I would have so done the same thing. I used to live across from a creek, and when I saw a snake coming from the creek over to my house, I got in the car and ran over it MULTIPLE times until it finally gave up. Gross.
Move...move now.
Was it really a rattle snake?
That would of sent me over the edge.
This is hilarious! Ok, that thing is HUGE. I would have killed it, too. Seriously.
Love the videos, "Then can we eat dinner?"
We have a creek too and have snakes all the time! I hate it. When I was pregnant Phillip called me out to the garage to show me something. I walked out and he had two 3 t. long rat snakes in his hands. Both still alive. He found them in our hot water heater cabinet. He's a freak and loves snakes and picks them up all the time. He ended up taking them up the street and setting them free. I do have to tell you that I've witnessed Phillip throwing a rock at a snake in the creek and hitting it on the head and killing it. I was impressed.
